Our rabbi is R' Laura Duhan Kaplan.  The rabbi is available for appointments at Or Shalom on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons.  Please phone her at 604-872-1614 or email her at reblaura@orshalom.ca

Reb Laura writes a weekly "Taste of Torah". These short pieces, drawn from her thoughts or the thoughts of her teachers, are circulated on our email list and printed in our weekly bulletin. They are collected here for you to read and think about.

Reb Laura has compiled her articles and lectures on a wide range of topics in a website of her writings.

December 1, 2011 - Jacob Haas has joined Or Shalom as our new Program Director.  From Jacob:

Dear Or Shalom Community,

My name is Jacob Haas and I am very excited to be the new program manager for your shul. I was born in Portland, Oregon - I have lived in England, Idaho, New York - and I moved to Vancouver in 2007.

Professionally, I hold bachelors degrees in political economy and education, and have worked at Camp Solomon Schechter and the BI. Currently I live at Moishe House creating programs for young adults and teach at TAG Jewish teen program.

In my personal life I enjoy running, rock climbing, camping and hiking, and pretty much anything else in the outdoors.   I am also interested in politics, Judaism, and reading. If you have any great program ideas or would like my help with current programs, please get in touch with me (programs@orshalom.ca).

Shalom,

Jacob
