LimmudVan, one of a worldwide series of independently-organized events, will be on Sunday, February 9, 2014, at King David School adjacent to the JCC. Forty-two sessions are available, see the complete schedule.
Limmud Vancouver was created by Ruth Hess-Dolgin who was excited by the learning and by the community-building she had experienced at a Limmud elsewhere, and formed a organizing committee from among various sectors of the community. When cancer appeared and Ruth realized that this was something she could not complete in her lifetime, the committee had grown, the idea had spread and funding for Limmud was donated in her memory. Today Limmud Vancouver is a large volunteer-driven body with over a dozen Or Shalomniks involved. Volunteers are still needed for day of the event – please complete the Volunteer form on the website or contact Avi.
Among the 42 sessions are offerings from Reb Laura, Rabbi Hillel G, Lorne M, Wendy O and Myrna R. as well as from four rabbis from other Vancouver shuls, hidden Vancouver teachers you never met, plus presenters from Victoria, Washington State, Ottawa, Florida, New York and Amsterdam.
Who is Limmud Vancouver? Limmud Vancouver is you! But hurry and register (and get your friends to do so). Tickets will probably sell out.
