Pesach
What We Can Learn from the Egyptians
Inspired by Laurel Dykstra
The midwives, Shifra and Pua, simply disobeyed Pharaoh's murderous
command to kill Hebrew baby boys.
Pharaoh's daughter disobeyed her father's command to throw babies
into the river and instead drew one out.
Pharaoh's advisors told him to stop destroying the country with a
battle he couldn't win.
Despite Pharaoh's view that the plagues were nothing to worry
about, many Egyptians made their own decision based on facts & evidence,
and hid themselves and their cattle from the hail.
As the Israelites were leaving, their Egyptians neighbors, who
favored their cause, gave them money & valuables for the journey.
Many Egyptians chose to leave the country with the Israelites and
start new lives.
This Pesach, think about the commitment so many Egyptians had to
justice. On this "new
year" of freedom, think about one new commitment that you can make.
