Program Coordinator – Position Description

Or Shalom is an egalitarian, participatory, Jewish Renewal shul located in East Vancouver. We are seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to work under the supervision of the Rabbi to help advance the community’s vision of engaging more members. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for: implementing programs, coordinating special events, developing community connections, and implementing communication across platforms to raise awareness and involvement with Or Shalom.


  • Working in collaboration with the Rabbi, the Office Administrator and community lay leaders to help ensure smooth functioning of all programs
  • Pursue networking opportunities with the wider Jewish community in Greater Vancouver
  • With the guidance of the Rabbi, develop and deliver intergenerational programming in accordance with Or Shalom goals and values
  • Ensures arrangements are made for setting-up, and taking down the set-up for all events
  • Outreach to individuals and families who may be interested in Or Shalom programming
  • Prepare communication materials to promote Or Shalom’s programs using community and social media platforms
  • Develop and maintain a list of families interested in family, youth and children’s programming, and ensure they are informed of activities
  • Flexible work hours (including some evenings and weekend)


  • Experience in developing, implementing and managing programs
  • Familiarity with communicating through on social media platforms
  • Demonstrates organizational skills needed to manage schedule for event planning, logistics, registration and publicity
  • Ability to manage time independently and carry out duties with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in working with colleagues and the community
  • A strong understanding of Jewish traditions, holidays and rituals
