RSVP for ALEPH Listening Tour

As you may know, the ALEPH co-chairs (Rabbi Rachel Barenblat and Rabbi David Evan Markus) are visiting Or Shalom so that they can hear our communal story of Renewal Judaism here in Vancouver. Having them visit our community is an opportunity for you/us/Or Shalom to shape the future of Aleph and Jewish Renewal.

While the Aleph co-chairs are visiting us, they will be facilitating two public events. We hope you can come to one or both of them.

Friday the 25th @ 5:15 Family Shabbat, followed at 6pm by a potluck dinner, Kabbalat Shabbat at 7 and an open mic at 8 for ALEPH to hear about the story of Jewish Renewal in Vancouver

Saturday the 26th @ 10am for Saturday morning services, followed a potluck lunch and an open mic at 1:30 so ALEPH can hear about our challenges, hopes and dreams for Renewal Judaism

We warmly invite you to join us in these two events. The open mic will be open for people to share some of their perspectives (approx. 3 minutes each) on the following questions:

  • What do you most cherish about Renewal that you hope the future will carry forward?
  • When thinking about Renewal Judaism, what would you jettison or change?
  • What focus might you recommend for Jewish Renewal in the coming years?
  • How can we cultivate spiritual and organizational innovation?

Please RSVP using the links below and let us know which events you can come to so we can plan for things like food and facilitation logistics. Child care will be available on Saturday morning from 10:15 to 12:15. If you have a young child and would like to participate in Friday evening activities after 7pm or in Saturday afternoon’s open mic, please email Yael at programs@orshalom.ca asap so that we can meet your childcare needs.
