Sukkot and Simchat Torah are busy, happy times at Or Shalom. Come on out to East Vancouver and celebrate with us with these events and programs:
On Oct. 13, the Or Shalom community will erect our Sukkah. Our dedicated team of builders will begin at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome to come see the Sukkah go up! Feel free to bring schach (tree branches) to help make our canopy. After the Sukkah is standing everyone is invited to decorate – recycled craft materials will be provided and we will put them up in the Sukkah from 12 to 1 p.m. Please come be a part of this heartwarming and family-friendly event!
Each year Rabbi Hannah and Ross open their Sukkah for a few evenings of sharing stories with members of our community. Attendance is limited to Or Shalom members and there are only a few spots each evening. Find all the details here.
Join JQT Vancouver and Or Shalom Synagogue for a special evening of food sharing and revelling in the fruits of our labour in celebration of the Jewish autumnal harvest festival of Sukkot!
Please bring a dish and a libation of your choice to this vegetarian potluck and get ready to kick back, drink, eat, and share stories. Everyone is welcomed: Jewish, Jew-ish, Jew-curious and friends!!
Rumour on the street is that there will be a fruit and vegetable garnishing expert waiting in the sukkah to add a little extra love and joy to our potluck dishes 🙂
This queer and trans positive event is part of Vancouver Foundation’s “On the Table”series, as well as the Sustenance Festival, and takes place on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam peoples. RSVP to attend!
On erev Simchat Torah – Oct. 21 – everyone of all ages is invited to come to the Or Shalom Bayit and dance with the Torah!
